Gadchiroli Encounter: Police’s Major Action Leads to Killing of 4 Naxals in Fierce Gunfight

The Mayandana Bureau, Gadchiroli, Maharashtra: In a major operation by the Maharashtra Police, a fierce encounter broke out between the police and Naxals in the Gadchiroli district. resulting in the death of four Naxalites.

Gadchiroli, known as a Naxal stronghold, has been the focus of several high-profile operations. Just days before, an 8-lakh bounty Naxal couple had surrendered to the authorities, marking a significant success in the police’s ongoing anti-Naxal campaign.

High-Profile Naxal Surrender in Gadchiroli

Two days prior to the encounter, a wanted Naxal couple with a reward of 8 lakhs surrendered to the police in Gadchiroli. The couple, identified as Asin Rajaram Kumar (37) alias Anil, and his wife Anju Sulya Jale (28) alias Sonia, were active members of the Naxal movement. Kumar, a member of the Maoist press team in Odisha, was living under a false identity near Shimla in Himachal Pradesh and hailed from Narwana in Haryana. His surrender was a significant blow to Naxal networks in the region.

Police Operation Leads to Naxal Encounter

Following the surrender, the police launched a major anti-Naxal operation in Gadchiroli on Monday. During this operation, a gunfight broke out between the police and the Naxals, leading to the deaths of four Naxal operatives. The police have intensified search operations in the area post the encounter to ensure further security in Gadchiroli.
