Tragic death of Jharkhand worker in Tunisia: Govind, a migrant worker from Barwadih village, suffered a fatal injury while working when a hydra machine fell on his head.

He was severely injured and despite being rushed to the hospital by fellow workers, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Govind Mahto (47), a resident of Barwadih village under Adwara Panchayat in Bagodar police station area, had gone to Tunisia around six months ago for employment. He was employed with Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL) working on a transmission line project.

Govind is survived by his wife, Jhalia Devi, a son, Suraj Mahto, and three daughters, Uma Devi, Savitri Devi, and Pooja Kumari. Former MLA Nagendra Mahto and other locals visited the family in their time of grief.

He met with the grieving family, offering them comfort and assuring them of all possible support. Mahto has urged senior officials of the company to provide a compensation of ₹25 lakh for the deceased’s dependents.
