Congress Unveils New Faces in second list: Surprising Candidates and Key Endorsements in Haryana Assembly Race

The Congress party released its second list of candidates late on Sunday night for the Haryana Assembly elections This list includes the names of nine candidates.

Voting for the Haryana Assembly elections will take place on October 5, with counting scheduled for October 8.

The party has given tickets to Aniruddh Chaudhary, the grandson of former Chief Minister Bansi Lal, for the Tosham seat, and to Brijender Singh, the son of former Union Minister Birender Singh and a former BJP MP, for the Uchana Kalan seat.

One surprising name in the second list is Vardhan Yadav, who has been given the ticket for the Badshahpur seat. Vardhan is a favorite of Rahul Gandhi and has received his ticket through the Youth Congress quota. Recently, Vardhan’s Mercedes G-Wagon was in the news when wrestler Vinesh Phogat used it for a roadshow from New Delhi Airport to Ballali village after returning from the Paris Olympics.

Previously, on the night of September 6, Congress had released its first list of candidates, which announced 32 tickets, including those for 28 sitting legislators. With this, Congress has now announced candidates for 41 out of the 90 assembly seats. Among the prominent names in this list are former Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda, Surender Panwar, Dharm Singh Chhokar, Rao Dan Singh, and Maman Khan, an MLA accused in the Nuh violence case. There are still 49 seats for which Congress has yet to announce its candidates.
